THE GREAT MIGRATION - TANZANIA & KENYA
The countries have to be amongst the best in Africa to visit, particularly if you are a first time safari visitor. Vast national parks, mountain ranges and one of the most recognised wildlife experiences – the Great Wildebeest Migration – is true to the famous film of Karen Blixen ‘Out of Africa’.
Activity: Make the early morning start to witness the Great Migration is from a hot air balloon. It is a thrilling way to see thousands of wildebeest swarm across the Serengeti
JAPAN
July is witness to one of Japan's most famous annual celebrations, Kyoto's Gion Matsuri (Gion Festival), festival of the Yasaka Shrine. Impressive for two reasons, one is that the festival has been going uninterrupted since the year 869 and secondly the procession of floats. If you have a particular interest in Japanese tradition and culture it is certainly worth the trip but you do need to plan and book well in advance.
Activity: If you wish you to attend it does pay to plan well in advance. Some paid seating is provided in front of the city hall but because the procession takes place over quite a long route and duration, good viewpoints can also be found elsewhere without too much trouble.
