Rocky Mountaineer, is known to many as a must-do vacation thanks to the awe-inspiring vistas that showcase nature’s most beautiful aspects of sparkling lakes, snowy mountains, and local wildlife at every turn. Experience the wonderment onboard this all day-light journey by rail while you enjoy fresh, culinary creations inspired by the passing regions. The train takes you on a journey, stopping overnight in cosmopolitan cities like Seattle and Vancouver and quintessentially Canadian mountain towns, such as Banff and Jasper.

In this itinerary 'Experience the West'! The journey takes you to the beautiful and stunning mountain towns of Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff, whilst also including a trip to the Columbia Icefields and a helicopter tour through the soaring peaks of the Rockies.

‘At-a-Glance’ Illustrative Itinerary

DAY 1 ARRIVE VANCOUVER 
You will have arrived in Vancouver! Your room will be ready for you at your hotel. After check in you will be able to spend sometime exploring the city on your own. 

DAY 2 VANCOUVER TO KAMLOOPS

Today will be an early start as you board the Rocky Mountaineer train at 07:30 local time, Vancouver Station at 7:30am. You will commence your journey from the coastal city of Vancouver into the heart of British Columbia’s interior arriving at Kamloops. The journey will take you through dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, then up through forests and winding river canyons. The peakspeaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains will surrounded you as you pass through to the desert-like environment of the British Colombia interior. Highlights include the rushing cold mountains waters of Hell’s Gate, Fraser Canyon and Thompson River deep in a valley of steep slopes and rock sheds. Your day concludes as the train travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake into Kamloops between 6:00pm and 7:30pm.

DAY 3 KAMLOOPS TO JASPER

Today is another early start as you board the Rocky Mountaineer at the Kamloops Station at 7:30am. Your journey today continues north and east out of British Colombia and into the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. You continue to follow the river banks of the North Thompson River you will find that the dramatic scenery constantly surprises with every pass and curve you take. The beauty of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains climb up and up to the high peaks of the Continental Divide. Viewing highlights include Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet) the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Pyramid Falls, and on over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park.

Your rail journey ends this evening between 7:30pm and 9:00pm on arrival in the resort town of Jasper. Breakfast and lunch will be served onboard.

DAY 4 JASPER
You have arrived in Jasper and will embark on a sightseeing tour of the highlights.

DAY 5 ICEFIELDS PARKWAY TOUR JASPER TO LAKE LOUISE

Today you will travel to Lake Louise via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. Highlights are Bow Lake, Glacier Skywalk, Athabasca Falls and the awe inspiring Columbia Icefield, one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle and one of the most accessible icefields in North America. Here you will the opportunity you ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn more about the geological features that have prevailed for thousands and thousands of years. Afterwards, a brief stop will be made at Bow Lake before arriving in Lake Louise in the afternoon.

This evening you will overnight in Lake Louise.

DAY 6 SIGHTSEEING YOHO PARK LAKE | LAKE LOUISE TO BANFF

This morning you will have some free time to explore beautiful Lake Louise on your own. Following lunch, a half-day tour offers you the opportunity to tour Yoho National Park and view some of its natural wonders. Among these are the attractions are the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River. After the tour has finished you will be transferred to Banff.

Your accommodation this evening will be in Overnight in Banff. 

DAY 7 BANFF TO CALGARY WITH HELICOPTER TOUR

Today enjoy a full-day tour that will conclude in Calgary. The morning begins with a sightseeing tour of Banff of which the main points of interest are Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. As part of the tour a trip on the Banff Gondola is included. You will then continue on to Kananaskis for the highlight of today’s adventure, a 12-minute Panoramic Helicopter Tour over the remarkable landscape of the Rockies.

You accommodation this evening is in Calgary.

DAY 8 TOUR END IN CALGARY
This part of your holiday will end in Calgary from where you can journey back to Vancouver or continue your Canadian experience across to the East Coast
