Visit Santa Claus

Christmas time means Santa Claus and the perfect time for a magical family holidays. Rovaniemi is the official hometown of Santa Claus. Located in the heart of Lapland this magical place offers an Arctic playground all snowy and twinkly. In addition to meeting Santa himself you can explore the sparkling landscape by dog sled, reindeer sleigh, experience the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights by snowmobile, or stay warm in a glass-ceilinged igloo and watch the flickering ribbons of colour from the comfort of your own bed.

NEW for 2020/21 - In conjunction with the new Covid19 regulations from Finland, UK travellers are now able to spend up to 72 hours in Finland from the 23rd November on the submission of a negative Covid19 test taken within the previous 72 hours. To fit with this tight schedule we are delighted to offer the following itinerary:

  • 2 nights on half board stay in our favourite cosy log cabins
  • Enjoy a visit to Santa Claus Village
  • Visit Santa's Post Office
  • Drive through snowy forests on a snowmobile
  • Embark on a Reindeer Sleigh Ride

‘At-a-Glance’ Illustrative Itinerary

DAY 1:

Arrive in Rovaniemi, meet your guide and take your private transfer to your cosy log cabin to check-in for a two-night stay.

Straddling the Arctic Circle, Ounasvaaran Lakituvat’s cosy wooden chalets are located on top of the Ounasvaara Fell in Rovaniemi. The chalet apartments measure 67m² and have 2 bedrooms each with twin beds, two bathrooms, a modern and fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living room and even a sauna. The fireplace is always stocked with firewood, each cabin enjoys free WiFi TV, Radio with CD player, Sony Play Station 2 for your own games and a supermarket is within walking distance.

The chalets sit near a range of cross country ski tracks whilst the ski slopes are only 200 metres away from where you can toboggan and snowshoe. (D)

DAY 2:

After breakfast, get ready to embark on an exciting full-day excursion combining Lapland's main highlights: reindeer encounters, snowmobile rides and no less than Father Christmas himself. 

The day starts with meeting Santa Claus and his helpers, a visit to Santa’s Official Post Office followed by a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you will transfer by snowmobile to a local reindeer farm. Meet the reindeer, embark on a short reindeer sleigh ride and take part in a special 'Arctic Circle crossing ceremony'.

After all this excitement you will return to the cabin, looking out for the elusive Northern Lights on the way. Dinner is at the local restaurant after which you get  a chance to unwind at your comfortable log cabin. (B,L,D)

DAY 3:

After breakfast, take your private transfer to Rovaniemi airport for the return flight to the UK. (B)
